How to add a simple product

Adding a simple product to your store/shop is very easy. Please follow our step by step guide below on how to add a simple product.


Access the product tab.

How to add a simple product to your store/shop.

  1. Click the product tab on the menu to add a simple product.
  2. Click add new.
Product details.
  1. Select simple product from the drop down.
  1. Select simple product.
  2. Select the type of product.
  3. Enter the name of the product.
  1. Click the image icon to upload a featured image.
    1. Click select files to access your images on your device as shown on step 7a.
    2. Select the file folder on your device.
    3. Select the image.
    4. Click add/upload as shown in the image below on step 7b – 7d.
    5. Enter the Alt text that describes the image.
    6. Enter the title of the image.
    7. Enter the description of the image.
    8. Click select. (see image below)
  2. If you already have images uploaded, follow the steps below;
    1. Select Media library tab.
    2. Select the image.
    3. Click select. (see image)
  3. Enter the price.
Schedule the sale dates.
  1. Enter the sale price if you would like to have a promotion for your product. (See 10a in the image)
  2. Click the schedule tab to set the period of the sale.
  3. Click the date tab to pull the calendar and pick the start date from the calendar as shown on step 12a.
  4. Click the end date tan and pick the dates from the calendar – 13a.
  5. Enter the short description. (See 14a in the image)
  6. Enter the long description. (See 15a in the image)
  7. Select the categories that describe your product best. You may choose multiple categories. (See 16a in the image)
  8. Select the tags that fit the description of your product. (See 17a in the image)
  9. Select catalogue visibility in order for your product to show on the front end.
Upload method
Inventory/Stock Count.
  1. Click inventory tab.
  2. Enter the product or stock number. This is a unique product identifier to help you manage your inventory/stock – see 20a in the image. (Optional)
  3. Check/tick Manage Stock.
  4. Enter how many item you have.
  5. Do not allow backorder. This is the option to have a customer order a product that is out of stock. (We do not allow back orders.)
  6. Then click the icon/symbol to get a description.
Shipping.
  1. Click shipping tab to enter shipping details.
  2. Enter the weight of the package. (The item should be already packaged to get the actual weight.)
  3. Enter the measurements of the package.
  4. Select the shipping class. You may skip this step if you have already set up the global shipping from the settings tab on the menu page.
  5. Select the period when the item will be ready for shipping.
Tax.
  1. Click the Tax tab.
  2. Select if the item is taxable from dropdown. (see image)
  3. Select the tax class from the dropdown. (If you offer multiple shipping methods, i.e free shipping, discounted shipping, etc.
Upsell.
  1. Select Linked Tab if you want to show other products in your store/shop.
  2. Select upsell and pick a product from the dropdown to drive up your sales by showcasing products that are more expensive. (See 34a.)
Cross sell
Advanced.
  1. Click Advanced tab to enter additional information.
  2. Check/tick “Enabled” to give an opportunity for buyers to rate your product.
    • Good ratings will give future buyers the confidence to purchase from your store/shop.
  3. You can leave a note for the buyers either thanking them or special instructions for the customer, i.e downloadable products (This field is optional)
  4. Click submit to publish your product.

  1. Sale price – 10a.
